UnLearn The World
Artist, Executive Director, Hip Hop For Change
UnLearn The World is the rare kind of artist who bridges the gap between raw underground lyricism, social consciousness, and modern cultural relevance. Born out of New York City’s late-90s underground hip hop scene and now based in Oakland, California, the charting MC, educator, and activist has spent years building a reputation as both a commanding live performer and a respected voice in hip hop culture. From touring internationally alongside legendary artists like GZA of Wu-Tang Clan and Mobb Deep to sharing stages with Rakim, KRS-One, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Killer Mike, and Big Daddy Kane, UnLearn has quietly built one of independent hip hop’s most authentic resumes.
In 2026, UnLearn The World reached a major career milestone with the release of his highly anticipated album Midnight Crysis through ROC Nation Distribution. The album debuted at #8 on the iTunes Hip Hop charts alongside releases from Jay-Z, Tupac’s Greatest Hits, and Cardi B, further cementing UnLearn as one of the culture’s rising independent voices. The project was praised for its emotionally layered storytelling, socially reflective lyricism, and cinematic production rooted in both classic boom bap sensibilities and modern sonic textures.
Known for balancing substance with accessibility, UnLearn’s music explores mental health, identity, spirituality, systemic inequality, grief, resilience, and personal transformation through deeply personal storytelling and sharp lyricism. Previous releases such as The God That Sins earned acclaim within underground hip hop circles, with standout records featuring Ghostface Killah, Royce Da 5’9”, and a posthumous appearance from Sean Price charting internationally on iTunes in both the United States and United Kingdom.
Beyond music, UnLearn The World has emerged as a respected cultural educator and community leader. As Executive Director of the Oakland-based nonprofit Hip Hop For Change, he develops arts education curriculum and leads programs focused on youth empowerment, mental wellness, social justice, and culturally responsive education through hip hop culture. His work has led to speaking engagements and lectures ranging from UC Berkeley to Harvard University, as well as conferences from New York to Dubai.
UnLearn’s growing impact has been recognized by major media outlets including Rolling Stone UK, which named him one of the “Top Artists You Need To Hear,” while recent viral performances on Shade45 and additional coverage from iHeart Radio and other publications continues to position him as one of independent hip hop’s most compelling emerging voices.
